AWM Receives Stellar Review

Pesticide Regulation Program, Highest Possible "effective" Rating

Agriculture, Weights and Measure’s Pesticide Regulation program recently received the highest possible “effective” rating in an annual performance evaluation report from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. The evaluation failed to identify any deficiencies as all core program elements, including Restricted Materials Permitting, Compliance Monitoring, and Enforcement Response, were rated “effective.” Findings were based on field observations, oversight inspections, a review of County records and an evaluation of pesticide use and illness investigations last year. The report also recognized the program for non-core accomplishments including hosting and coordinating quarterly meetings with industry and other government agencies, conducting outreach and industry training sessions and revising AWM’s Commodity Fumigation Memorandum of Understanding with the Air Pollution Control District.
