Feed and grain mills and kelp processing equipment emits air contaminants including particulate matter and potentially toxics and requires a permit to operate except for limited exemptions for equipment used for food processing, brewing or if the process is otherwise exempt from permitting according to District Rule 11.
Feed and grain mills and kelp processing equipment includes receiving systems; grinders, crackers and roller mills; shaker stacks, screen sets, pelletizers, cleaners and hammermills; mixers; and truck or rail loading systems. If you have only receiving, storage and transfer equipment or the milling portion of your process is exempt but the storage systems require permits (e.g. most breweries), please see the grain storage equipment page for permitting information.
The information on this page will assist in the completion and submittal of an application for each dry chemical mixer/process. Each section of the page contains important information needed to submit an application.
