Vocational English as a Second Language

VESL is a program of Refugee Employment Services (RES), administered by the International Rescue Committee, Inc. (IRC).  The purpose of VESL is to support refugee families in the U.S. five years or less to acquire the necessary skills to obtain a job as quickly as possible and develop a plan to upgrade their employment for more hours, better pay and benefits, so that they can achieve self-sufficiency. 

VESL services ensure employment and training placements are achieved, specialized language barriers are efficiently addressed, community relationships are strengthened, and more of San Diego’s refugee population is served.
