California Code of Regulations, Title 17, sections 2500 and 2641.5-2653.2, mandate health care providers to report HIV and AIDS, while section 2505 requires laboratories to report tests indicative of HIV. The HIV/AIDS Epidemiology Unit collects, analyzes, and disseminates local HIV and AIDS data to a broad audience. Through timely and accurate surveillance, the unit achieves its goal of providing a foundation for effective community HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment efforts in San Diego County.

HIV/AIDS Reporting Training
The HIV/AIDS Epidemiology unit is available to provide HIV reporting training for Health Care Providers or Laboratory Staff.
