California Code of Regulations, Title 17, sections 2500 and 2641.5-2653.2, mandate health care providers to report HIV and AIDS, while section 2505 requires laboratories to report tests indicative of HIV. The HIV/AIDS Epidemiology Unit collects, analyzes, and disseminates local HIV and AIDS data to a broad audience.
