Chris Ahrens will read from his latest book, Twilight in the City of Angels, a historical novel based in East Los Angeles on the author's grandfather José. Ahrens has worked as a full-time writer since 1973 with words in every major surfing magazine in the world. He is the author of three popular books of surfing short stories, and recently completed a biography on skateboarding legend Christian Hosoi.

Local author J. Elke Ertle will discuss her childhood and young adulthood in West Berlin, hemmed-in by Communist East Berlin and her family's high expectations. She will sign and sell copies of her memoir, Walled-In, following the presentation.
