George and Gertrude Hoffman have used the San Diego County Library system for many years. Gertrude volunteered at the El Cajon Library when she was in high school, and they were some of El Cajon's first lifetime members of their Friends of the Library group 35 years ago. Gertrude is a tutor and often orders books to help her students.
In July at the age of 82, they purchased their first computer and iPad and they needed help learning to use them. George says, "You can always count on the library," and so they started attending La Mesa Library's computer classes. Thanks to the library's classes, they are now able to use their new technology. Best of all, they were able to learn what they needed to for free. "It was so valuable," George said.
