If your income is less than $53,000 you may qualify for free virtual tax assistance at the library through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and the Virtual Counselor Network (VCN).

The Internal Revenue Service has recently announced that it will no longer make available to the library the many forms that it had in the past. In an email, the IRS said it is discontinuing the Tax Forms Outlet Program because "IRS appropriations were significantly cut in the 2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill recently passed by Congress."
The only forms that the IRS will offer for distribution at San Diego County Library are Forms 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ. Instruction booklets for these forms will be available in the branch but copies are not available for taking home.
