Brian Albright is the Director of Parks and Recreation for the County of San Diego. He rejoined the County most recently from the City of Carlsbad, where he also served as Parks and Recreation Director. Formerly he served as the County’s Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. Earlier in his career Brian was Chief of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities for the City of Alexandria, Virginia.
Brian oversees a staff of more than 150 employees that manage over 45,000 acres of land, including 34 local parks, 7 regional parks, more than 300 miles of trails, fishing lakes, open space preserves, campgrounds, 5 community centers, various sports parks and multiple historic sites. The department also runs over 200 programs for kids, families and adults across the County.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Westmont College and an MBA degree in international business from American University. He is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional through the National Recreation and Parks Association.
