Camping Reservation Procedure:
To make a reservation in any of our eight camping parks, you have the following three options:

  • On-Line Reservations:
    Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, you can now make your camping reservations on-line. Visit this page to learn more.

  • Phone Reservations:

Camping Reservation:
For online reservations, the latest you may make a reservation for campsites is 24-hours prior to the first day of your stay if sites are available. For same-day reservations, you must call the reservation desk.
 
Camp Fire Regulations:
No person shall ignite or permit to be ignited, a fire in any location in a County park except in a designated campfire ring or cooking area provided by the County or as specifically authorized by the Park Ranger. Fires in fire rings are allowed from 7:00 am - 11:00 pm.
 
Camping Reservation Time Limits:
The earliest you may make a reservation for campsites is one year prior to the first day of your stay.
 
Cancellations:
  • Overnight use: All fees will be forfeited if the reservation is cancelled less than 30-days before the check-in date. Reservations cancelled less than 90-days but more than 30-days prior to check-in date will be refunded less the first night's fee, reservation fee, and a $5 cancellation fee. Reservations cancelled more than 90-days prior to check-in date will be refunded less reservation fee and a $5 cancellation fee. Fees for all cancellation requests are based upon original reservation and transfer date.
  • Day use: All fees will be forfeited if the reservation is cancelled less than 30-days before the event date. There is a $30 fee to cancel a reservation more than 30-days before the event date. 
 
Gift Certificates:
We offer gift certificates for camping in any amount. These certificates are good for full hook-up, partial hook-up, primitive sites, camping in a wilderness cabin, or merchandise. Call the Reservation Desk at (858) 565-3600 (local) or (877) 565-3600 (toll free) to purchase the certificates. Gift certificates are also available for purchase at any of our camping parks and the Reservation and Information Center . For your convenience, they are also available online, 24 hours a day, at http://reservations.sdparks.org/commerce/gift_certificate_sale.asp

Caravan Camping:
The Caravan area at Agua Caliente may be reserved up to one year in advance. Current fees are $100, maximum of 10 units. Call 858-565-3600 for more information.

Park Fees:

  • Fee Collection:
    All fees for Reserved Individual Sites and Reserved Group-Youth/Caravan Areas are collected in advance by the Reservation Desk. A non-refundable reservation fee ($5.00) is charged for each individual site reservation.  All fees for Unreserved/First-Come, First-Served Sites are collected by the Ranger at the Park. Fees must be paid prior to check-in time for each night's stay. No reservation fee is charged.
  • Extra Vehicles:
    The Park Supervising Ranger will determine each site's capacity for extra vehicles and allow such usage as space allows and charge an extra vehicle fee of $4 per vehicle. An extra vehicle is considered a second motorized vehicle that is not towing or being towed by the main camping unit.

  • Pet Fees:
    Pets are $1.00 per night (note that dogs are not allowed at The San Diego Botanic Garden or Volcan and Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserves). Horse fees are $2.00 per night at Sweetwater Summit and Vallecito and are collected at the park upon check-in. See Frequently Asked Questions for pet regulations.

  • Reservation Fee:
    $5.00 Per Individual Reservation. This fee is non-refundable.
  • Park Fees (per night):
    The tables below identify camping fees currently in effect, and fee changes after September 4, 2012. Reservations may be made up to one year in advance.

** An organized Youth Group exists when 75% of those in the group are under 18 years of age. There is a $5.00 reservation fee for groups. Note that at Vallecito and Dos Picos, the maximum number of people allowed cannot exceed 25.
 

Showers (coin operated): All County campgrounds are equipped with coin operated showers.  Showers accept quarters and cost 50 cents for 4 minutes of shower time.  Quarters may be obtained at the ranger stations.

Red Flag Warnings:
An open flame ban shall go into effect whenever a Red Flag Warning is posted by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and will remain in effect until the Red Flag Warning is lifted by the NOAA. In the event of a Red Flag Warning, refunds will not be given. 
 

Transfers:

Overnight use: A $5 transfer or change fee is charged for one reservation rescheduled within a three-month period of the date of the original reservation. Transfer must be made at least one business day in advance before check-in time.

Day use: There is a $5 fee to change a reservation more than 30 days in advance. Transfers can be rescheduled up to one year from the original date and in the same park only. Less than 30 days no changes will be allowed.
