Demand Response Participation

Demand Response is a statewide strategy for curtailing electricity use during summer month high demand and high cost days.  Reducing electricity use at these times reduces strain on the electricity grid, prevents possible outages, and saves money. The County participates in SDG&Es demand response program, which offers incentives for achieving energy use curtailment.  In 2017 County staff at the County Operations Center participated in 20 demand response events, during June through October, saving an average of 30% of energy use at the central plant.
