Getting Started

Congratulations!  You have already taken the first step in getting started – doing your research about the fostering and adoption process and becoming a Resource Parent. Like any other important decision, fostering and adoption takes planning, careful consideration, and patience. We are currently in need of Exceptional Families for Exceptional Children.  Exceptional Children are our children who are in need of a forever home and fall into at least one of the following categories:

  • Over the age of 8 years old
  • Sibling groups (especially three or more)
  • Medical, emotional or developmental needs
  • Children of various ethnic backgrounds

Currently, Foster & Adoptive Resource Family Services is not conducting Resource Family Approval Orientations.  However, we encourage you to complete the Resource Family Approval process through one of our partnering Foster Family Agencies (FFA).  Once a month, Foster and Adoptive Resource Family services will host the Foster Family Agency Information Forum.  Here you will have the opportunity to meet with our partnering FFA's and learn about becoming a Resource Parent.  Click the attachment below, entitled "FFA Forum Schedule" for upcoming dates. PLEASE NOTE: No children will be admitted.

For more information, call the KidsLine at 877-792-KIDS (5437).

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are interested in volunteering with children in foster care, please see the  document below entitled, "Volunteer Opportunities."
