Mission

To promote professional nursing practice by supporting quality nursing services to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities.

Our role is to support quality, timely, and evidence-based care and services provided by nurses throughout the Health and Human Services Agency. This includes development, implementing and updating policies and standards of practice.

Quality

HHSA Nursing Administration collects and analyzes data to develop processes that support the delivery of excellent services and to monitor service delivery and quality indicators. We support our stakeholders in developing process improvement initiatives.

Practice and Policy

HHSA Nursing Administration develops and provides oversight for HHSA nursing standards and practices. We ensure HHSA nursing policies are evidence-based and align with the Live Well San Diego vision. Develop and implement the HHSA Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Education and Professional Development

HHSA Nursing Administration formulates and executes the education and professional development plan including partnering with area schools of nursing to develop the future nursing workforce.

Public Health Nurse Residency Program

The 10-week program provides a comprehensive overview of the County’s public health and social services to nurses in their transition to public health nursing.

Clinical Placements

HHSA Nursing Administration coordinates the placement of student nurses who are enrolled in academic programs that have a formal agreement with County of San Diego. 

CEU Provider

HHSA Nursing Administration is a Continuing Education Provider as approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. We support educators and presenters in delivering CEU approved courses
