Mpox Local Emergency

Overview

  • On August 2, 2022, the County declared a local health emergency to respond to mpox.
  • On November 10, 2022, following a significant decrease in new mpox cases and as a direct result of successful outbreak response measures, the local health emergency for mpox was allowed to expire.
  • The County continues surveillance, disease investigation, vaccination, education, and outreach activities.

San Diego County and California public health officials have issued orders to prevent the spread of mpox. On November 10, 2022, the local health emergency expired.
