 Rural Health Network

To enhance access and preserve healthy and thriving communities in rural San Diego County.

To establish and enhance partner relationships and resources to advocate and promote health and well-being in rural San Diego County communities.

In November of 2001, the County of San Diego, Health and Human Services Agency, North Regions, rural service providers and community partners established the San Diego County Rural Health Network (RHN). Through the collaborative efforts initiated by the RHN, many agencies have secured additional resources and established new partnerships to improve service delivery for rural San Diego County communities. The RHN provides networking, information, and resource sharing opportunities to support comprehensive health and social services for rural residents.

  • Approximately 167,000 residents live in these communities

Rural Public Health Nursing

A North Inland Public Health Nurse is dedicated to work in our rural communities.  This is made possible by the Mobile Remote Workforce (MRW) which increases the efficiencies of nurses who conduct home visits.  Families who are expecting or have infants and children who are at-risk for health complications benefit from the MRW.
