6TH Avenue – Family Court

The County of San Diego has partnered with BRIDGE Housing Corporation to develop affordable housing for low income families and frail seniors. Currently the Site is in a short term lease with Jewish Family Services (JFS). JFS is assisting families transitioning through the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) asylum process before they are connected with family members residing in the U.S. The Board of Supervisors directed staff to identify County property for a potential temporary shelter for the legal asylum seekers, and the former Family Court Site was found to be most conducive.

Below are a range of public documents regarding the development of the Site as well as the temporary use. The lease with JFS is scheduled to commence on March 1, 2019 and terminate on December 31, 2019.  Upon termination of the JFS lease, BRIDGE will resume the activities related to the development of affordable housing.
