V\u1ec1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Environmental Justice Workgroup\u202f(Workgroup) informs regional government climate and social equity initiatives. The desired outcome is for communities systemically impacted by environmental injustices to have shared power in advancing sustainability efforts that affect their lives. The Workgroup believes “environmental justice and climate justice are achieved when transformative, collaborative actions are taken to adapt to climate change and address structural and systemic inequities\u2014while upholding Tribal equity and values\u2014so all people and nature can live harmoniously in healthy, safe, prosperous, and inclusive communities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2024, the Workgroup has informed\u00a025\u00a0different initiatives ranging from the\u00a0County\u2019s\u00a0Food\u00a0Justice\u00a0Community\u00a0Action\u00a0Plan, Green\u00a0Industries and High Road\u00a0Jobs initiative, Climate\u00a0Action\u00a0Plan, Energy Access\u00a0Resilience and\u00a0Capacity study,\u00a0the\u00a0Office of\u00a0Emergency\u00a0Services\u2019\u00a0Emergency\u00a0Operations\u00a0Plan, Public\u00a0Health\u00a0Services\u2019\u00a0Climate Adaptation Plan, Pauma Tribal Farm,\u00a0San Diego Air Pollution Control District policies,\u00a0and more.\u00a0Over\u00a040 presenters have consulted with the Workgroup since its inception.\u00a0The Workgroup feedback is directly incorporated into the effort they are advising on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workgroup members collaboratively create their priorities plan based on their lived experience and regional data. This informs what climate initiatives come forward to the group for advisement and the site visits the group takes together for increased awareness about a topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u00e1c cu\u1ed9c h\u1ecdp v\u00e0 th\u00e0nh vi\u00ean<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 21-member Workgroup meets approximately eight times a year. Members serve two- or three-year terms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Workgroup includes a diversity of perspectives. It is comprised of residents from across the county, Tribal\u202fmembers, representatives from community-based organizations, academics and researchers, people of color, immigrants and refugees, elders, and youth.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n
