The County of San Diego has started the transition to a new website. It’s a new look and a new approach to how we share information and services online.

Change in phases

The County homepage and a few other pages have changed to the new design. All services and departments will change gradually.

Our goals

We are working to make the services you need easy to find, understand, and get. You should not need to know the department that provides the service. The site should work for anyone on any device.

As we add pages, these are some of the specific changes you will see:

  • A very simple page design. We want to focus on what’s most important. Simple also means it will work better with all devices and if it has a weak internet connection.
  • Simpler writing. We require pages for general audiences be written in plain language.
  • Services first. The services people seek most are the most prominent thing on the home page. Individual pages will focus on the service, not the department that provides it. We will introduce a service list by category.
  • Easier translations. We put the languages spoken most in San Diego County at the top of the language selector. Languages that read right-to-left have improved display.
  • Accessibility. We’ve tested our pages to make sure they work for people with disabilities and who use assistive technology.

You may not see it, but we’re also working to organize the data in our pages so it works better in search engines and with AI tools.

Feedback

We invite your feedback. Each new page has “Was this page helpful?” It is a simple form to give us feedback. You can also use the form below for any comments.
