About
The Environmental Justice Workgroup provides a platform and removes barriers for people who experience environmental injustices to have shared power in advancing efforts that directly affect their lives. Each meeting is an opportunity for local governments and regional public agencies to gather valued feedback and garner support for efforts related to the climate emergency that are prioritized by the community.
The Workgroup includes a diversity of geographic and demographic perspectives and expertise to help close the equity gaps in climate work across the San Diego region. It is comprised of residents from all county districts, Tribal members, representatives from community-based organizations, academics and researchers, people of color, immigrants and refugees, elders, and youth.

Meetings and informal Workgroup activities are designed to cultivate a sense of belonging within the group through inclusive processes and recognizing the meaningful contributions and strengths of each member.
The 21-member workgroup meets monthly except in July and December. Members serve two- or three-year terms.
The membership application period is now closed. We will reopen member recruitment beginning in July through August 2026. For more information about becoming a member, please contact us at osej@sdcounty.ca.org
