Community Engagement and Outreach Manager
Bethany strives for social justice and environmental sustainability by building community and co-creating spaces of belonging to leverage transformative change. She manages a regional Environmental Justice Workgroup, partnerships for Spring Valley’s Sustainable Environment and Engaged Development Strategies as a part of a State of California Transformative Climate Communities planning grant and supports County genuine community engagement initiatives.
Bethany has over 20 years of professional experience in equitable program and policy development working at the intersections of environment, health, education, social services, racial equity, and youth development. Bethany’s experience includes working as an environmental justice grassroots organizer and community engager serving diverse populations in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond to address systemic and institutional injustices alongside communities. She has a BA from U.C. Berkeley in English and LGBTQ Studies, an MA in Environmental and Social Justice from Sonoma State University, and an Urban Environmental Education certificate from Cornell University.
Bethany hears the calling for people’s collective liberation just as strongly as she feels the planet’s need for ecological balance running through her veins. She understands the power of joining together to create positive, lasting change towards justice, love and connectedness for all.
