Brenda Garcia Millan
Group Program Manager

Brenda works with County departments, offering guidance to develop and report on commitments that make their operations more sustainable. She also creates resources such as courses and online platforms to help County employees discover practical ways to bring sustainability into their daily work and life. Additionally, Brenda works along with the Oversight and Administration team of the San Diego Regional Energy Network (SDREN), a partnership between the County and San Diego Community Power which offers ten energy-efficiency programs across the region.

Before joining the County, Brenda was a policy analyst at a climate action nonprofit and worked as a policy intern at the United States Senate in Washington, DC. In 2018, she obtained a Master’s degree in Global Studies from the University of Oregon and received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach in Spain, where she coordinated a Model United Nations high school program.

Brenda’s work at OSEJ is inspired by her family and South Bay community. When she was a teenager, she migrated to the U.S., and she feels a strong personal connection to the community that welcomed her and the urgency of addressing the environmental injustices that affect them every day.

Outside of work, Brenda likes to exercise, watch soccer games and Turkish soap operas, and plan trips with friends and family. Her most recent trip was to Yucatan.
