Chief Sustainability Officer
For almost three decades, Eden has focused on establishing socially and environmentally responsible solutions for people and places. She leads OSEJ, working with the team, County colleagues, and communities across the region and beyond to “repair the world” (Tikkun Olam).
She has enjoyed a diverse career as an executive, consultant, advocate, educator, public servant, standards developer, licensed architect, outreach strategist, and visual communicator. Previously, Eden served as Senior Green Building Coordinator at San Francisco Environment Department; coauthored Living Building Challenge and directed its first five years of evolution and global uptake; cocreated and acted as the first Technical Director of Health Product Declaration; and contributed to the development of other industry standards including LEED, Pharos Project, Declare, and EcoDistricts. Her advocacy efforts have led to policy reform, decentralized building and community developments, and the creation of a network of local action groups in cities all over the world.
Eden earned a BA from U.C. Berkeley in Architecture with a minor in Visual Studies, and a Master of Design from Edinburgh College of Art in Visual Communications. She is a recipient of the prestigious Buckminster Fuller Challenge award, Women in Sustainability Leadership Award, and Portland Business Journal Forty under 40, and is a Living Building Hero and LEED Fellow.
Some of Eden’s favorite pastimes include practicing figure drawing and tai chi, urban hiking with her dog Tali, experiencing live performances (music, theater, stand-up comedy…), and learning new things.
