Natalia is a dedicated advocate for sustainability and environmental justice with a rich background in waste diversion and community engagement. At the County, Natalia advances sustainability efforts across various offices and supports departmental commitments. She coordinates both external and internal sustainability initiatives, providing expertise in Circular Economy and Zero Waste throughout the region. She is also one of the authors of the County’s updated Environmentally Preferrable Procurement, or EPP, policy, as well as one of the main organizers for the County’s annual Earth Day Fair.  

Previously, Natalia was a Recycling Specialist with the County’s Department of Public Works, overseeing commercial and multi-family complex recycling programs. She also worked at the non-profit I Love A Clean San Diego, managing the Countywide waste diversion hotline and database, WasteFreeSD.org, and supporting community litter cleanup and beautification events. Natalia’s passion for sustainability began in her teenage years and was further developed at UC San Diego, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Animal Behavior, and Evolution. She is a certified TRUE Advisor™ and a Certified Sustainable Resource Management Professional (CSRMP). 

Outside of work, Natalia enjoys spending time with friends and her husband, Matthew, gardening with their four cats, cooking (and eating!), helping on the Board of Directors at San Diego Brewcycling Collaborative, and playing tabletop and video games. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, she is fluent in both Ukrainian and English.
