LUEG Program Manager
Ricky works to ensure community voices and needs are a part of meaningful climate action in our region. This involves listening to community priorities and uplifting them into agency work, as well as coordinating with others across the region to build thoughtful collaboration through actions and implementation. In addition to now leading the continued development of the Regional Decarbonization Framework, Ricky has been a part of County sustainability efforts including the Climate Action Plan and Electric Vehicle Roadmap. He holds a B.S. in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University and a Master’s in City and Regional Planning and an M.S. in Transportation Engineering from Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo.
Ricky grew up in Iowa, where summers were defined by flooding, derechos, and tornadoes. Inspiration always came through community togetherness in response to these events…but brought questions of why these “freak” events happened more and more frequently. His focus on understanding and supporting community resilience evolved into a career of climate action.
Outside of work, you’ll find Ricky watching sports (literally all sports) with his friends or karaoke-ing Disney songs on his bicycle while his two young kids cover their ears in the buggy – attempting to relive his days as the front man for his high school and college boy band.
