Recycled Water
The Department of Environmental Health and Quality (DEHQ) regulates the use of recycled water through a delegation agreement with the State Department of Public Health.
Land and Water Quality Division staff:
- Review recycled water use plans
- Conduct site inspections to ensure drinking water supplies are not contaminated with recycled water.
- Monitor spray irrigation sites to ensure recycled water irrigation does not present a risk to the public.
Recycled water sites must also pass an initial cross-connection control shutdown test, then once every four years. Inspections are coordinated with the water district supplying the recycled water.
