STD TESTING AND CLINICAL SERVICES
The County of San Diego has four STD clinics. All clinics offer testing and treatment for most STDs, vaccines for hepatitis A and B, and HIV testing. All services are offered on the basis of risk assessments, physical examinations, and/or laboratory test results.
You can now call the Rosecrans clinic during the morning to make an appointment for later that same day.
If you only need an HIV test (including court-ordered testing) or would like to receive results from a previous visit, you do not need an appointment. You may come into the clinic during regular business hours and be seen on a first come, first served basis.
A limited number of walk-in visits will be available each morning, until the clinic reaches capacity.
The appointment line is open:
- Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 7:00am - 9:30am
- Wednesday: 10:00am - 12:30pm
- Thursday: 9:30am – 11:00am
To make a same-day appointment, please call:
There is a $15 fee per visit which may be waived if you are unable to pay. The fee covers a physical examination and, if necessary, laboratory tests, certain treatments, vaccinations, and any follow-up visits within 30 days. Our clinics do not accept insurance. Payment is by cash or check only.
PLEASE NOTE: Our clinics DO NOT perform HPV testing or vaccination, asymptomatic herpes testing, PAP smears, or provide birth control (other than condoms), treatment for general medicine/non-STD related issues, HIV treatment or pregnancy care.

HIV testing is also offered at the San Diego LGBT Community Center throughout the week.
On Mondays and Wednesdays County of San Diego staff perform both confidential and anonymous (i.e., you do not use your name, but are given a number) rapid testing.
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays UC San Diego offers the confidential Early Test in addition to a confidential or anonymous rapid test (walk-ins are welcome or appointments can be made at (619) 543-8080).

However, most results are available one week after your visit. If any of your STD tests show that you have an STD, our staff will notify you of the result, usually by phone. If all your results are negative, we will not call you.
However, you may return to the clinic where you were seen to get your results in person.
HIV blood test results are typically available in one week. We cannot, by law, give HIV results over the phone. You must return to the clinic to receive your results in person.
