LIVE Domain

Overview

The County of San Diego's Aging & Independence Services (AIS) and Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego (CCDSD) are the agencies responsible for implementing the LIVE Domain of CalFresh Healthy Living. These agencies work to improve access to healthy food and water and increasing opportunities for physical activity in places people live.

Activities and Strategies

Shelter

Emergency Shelters

  • CCDSD focuses on nutrition standards and site wellness policies at homeless shelters. Some of these activities involve planning, preparing, and serving healthy meals to program participants. Others focus on creating and maintaining healthy food buying standards.

Neighborhood Settings: Community Organizations

  • AIS educates older adults and community organizations on policy, systems, and environmental changes with the goal of creating and sustaining healthy living.  
Apartments

Public Housing Sites

  • CCDSD implements strategies at senior residential sites which focus on creating and/or improving community physical activity opportunities and site wellness policies. Examples may include structured physical activity groups, including walking, Tai Chi, and dance.
