Gun Violence Reduction Program History
On October 19, 2021, the Board of Supervisors directed the County’s Public Safety Executive Office to research gun violence reduction programs.

In response to the Board’s direction, the Public Safety Executive Office led a Gun Violence Reduction Working Group in early 2022 to develop recommendations for Board consideration.
On April 5, 2022, the Board of Supervisors approved the recommendations from the Working Group and authorized a competitive solicitation for a contractor to conduct a regional gun violence reduction community needs assessment.

A competitive procurement was conducted to select a contractor to conduct a regional gun violence reduction community needs assessment. The Assessment took place between September 2022 and June 2023.
On February 6, 2024, the Gun Violence Community Needs Assessment Final Report was presented to the Board of Supervisors along with a Gun Violence Reduction Work Plan. The Board accepted the Report and approved the Work Plan, which included 14 actions to be implemented in FY 24-25.
