Reporting to the Epidemiology Unit
Call (619) 692-8499 to report animal diseases to the Epidemiology Unit. Animal diseases that must be reported to the Epidemiology Unit (Title 17, 2500), include:
- Anthrax
- Brucellosis
- Plague
- Rabies
- Tularemia
- Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers
- Novel Virus Infection with Pandemic Potential – Including Influenza in Cats
- Occurrence of any unusual disease
- Outbreaks of any disease
Use the OHEP Disease Reporting Form to report a single case of another animal disease, condition, or syndrome that is not on the list of reportable diseases.
Reporting to the California Department of Food and Agriculture
Call the Animal Health Branch District Office nearest you to report animal diseases. The California Department of Food and Agriculture has a list of diseases that must be reported to the Department.
