Community Action Board
The Community Action Board (CAB) is the Citizen Advisory Board to the County of San Diego and the Health and Human Services Agency on Community Action Partnership (CAP) programs.
As required by the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Act, CAB is a tripartite board with board members representing three important sectors:
Economically Disadvantaged Sector: Residents representing economically disadvantaged communities throughout San Diego County. This sector consists of five members (and their alternates) nominated by CAB and confirmed by the Board of Supervisors as follows:
- East Region – 1 representative and 1 alternate
- North Central Region – 1 representative and 1 alternate
- North Region – 1 representative and 1 alternate
- South Region – 1 representative and 1 alternate
- Central Region – 1 representative and 1 alternate
Private Sector: Five members (and their alternates) nominated by CAB and confirmed by the Board of Supervisors to represent organizations working with low-income individuals, families, and communities.
Public Sector: Five representatives nominated by a County Supervisor and confirmed by the Board of Supervisors.
Meetings: The Community Action Board holds a minimum of six regular meetings per year. Meetings are subject to the Brown Act and are open to the public.

CAB Membership Application: When completing the application, for the section "Name of Board, Committee, or Commission to Which You are Applying for Membership", please type Community Action Partnership. Applications to CAB are retained for two-years to be considered in filling vacancies. When a vacancy occurs, or is about to occur, an ad hoc Nominating Committee is formed by current CAB members to review the applications on file and coordinate interviews with those that best meet the criteria needed for the vacant seat. Applicants selected for consideration are contacted by staff from CAP to schedule an interview with the Nominating Committee. Individuals nominated by CAB must be confirmed by the Board of Supervisors prior to be seated.
