Requirements for Appointing Members (Click Here)
Each of the three sectors represented in CAB has a distinct set of requirements for appointing members:
- Economically Disadvantaged Sector:
- Five members (and their alternates) residing in the Central, North Central, South, East, and North Inland/Coastal regions of San Diego County.
- They are representatives/spokespersons for economically disadvantaged communities in their respective regions.
- Selected by a regional nominating committee, affirmed by CAB, and confirmed by the Board of Supervisors.

- Private Sector:
- Five members (and their alternates) that are representatives of organizations serving low-income individuals, households, and communities.
- Nominated by CAB and confirmed by the Board of Supervisors.
- The applicant shall need to obtain express permission from their organization to represent that organization at CAB meetings.
- Public Sector:
- Five representatives nominated by a County Supervisor and confirmed by the Board of Supervisors.
- The applicant should be able to work directly with the Supervisor regarding CAB matters.
- Economically Disadvantaged Sector:
Overview of Commitment and Expectations upon Appointment:
- Members usually serve a 3 (three) year term, unless the seat had been recently vacated.
- Meet in-person on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 3:30pm-5:00pm at the posted location (usually Kearny Mesa).
- Review the Mission and Programs of Community Action Partnership (CAP).
- Review governing documents and documents shared with CAB members.
- Engage in discussions and provide input on key CAP initiatives and processes.
- Fulfill requirements for CAB membership in a timely manner.
- CAB members serve on a voluntary basis, and mileage reimbursement is provided.

Considerations when applying (Click Here)
- Applications to CAB are retained for two-years to be considered in filling vacancies.
- When a vacancy occurs, or is about to occur, applications on file shall be reviewed and interviews coordinated for those that best meet the criteria needed for the vacant seat.
- Applicants selected for consideration are contacted by CAP staff to schedule an interview with the appropriate Nominating Committee.
- Individuals selected by a nominating committee must be confirmed by the Board of Supervisors prior to being seated.
