Temporary Employees

The County of San Diego offers medical coverage to all Temporary Employees. Temporary Employees are mailed enrollment instructions within 60 days of their hire date.

The election an employee chooses will be in effect for the 2021 plan year. If coverage is not elected during this time, the next opportunity to elect coverage will be during the County’s annual Open Enrollment period or if a qualifying event occurs. Examples of a qualifying event include loss of other coverage, becoming newly eligible for coverage, marriage or birth of a child. If a qualifying event occurs, employees have 60 days from the date of the event to make changes to their current elections.
