Harvesting the Local Flavor: the County’s Sustainable, Equitable and Local Food Sourcing Policy
The County of San Diego follows guidelines for buying food that is good for the environment, healthy, and comes from local businesses. We have a contract with Sysco to buy food that we often need in large quantities. We are looking to buy more food items from local businesses in the San Diego area.
In support of the County of San Diego’s Board of Supervisors Policy B-75, this informational list of local edible crop growers highlights the diversity of our region’s locally owned agricultural community, including small and mid-sized farming and food processing operations. The list is provided solely as a resource, and by sharing this information, the County aims to strengthen connections with local farmers, promote equitable opportunities, and support the development of a sustainable and resilient food system. To reach out, get more information, or connect with the edible crop growers, please email DPC Join The Table at jointhetable@sdcounty.ca.gov.
