Property Disposal

The Property Disposal section of the Department of Purchasing and Contracting manages the disposition of County surplus personal property. If such property is not reused by another County department, the property must be disposed of through auction, competitive sealed bid, or recycling.
LIVE AUCTIONS
The County has contracted with a professional auction company
to conduct live auctions for fleet vehicles and salvaged general
property on the County’s behalf:
Ken Porter Auctions, Carson, CA 90745 (310)
353-7140
INTERNET AUCTIONS
Some surplus property items are
auctioned through Ken Porter Auctions. The County is primarily
targeting local bidders who can pick up items on site since these
items will not be packaged or shipped.
OTHER COUNTY AUCTIONS
The Public Administrator conducts auctions for
personal and real property from estates.
The County Treasurer/Tax Collector auctions tax-defaulted properties within San Diego County through both live auctions and Internet auctions.
