Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)
The Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program provides housing to low-income people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
Housing and service providers compete for these funds through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The RFP is released when funds are available.
During the planning process, the community has the opportunity to participate through the Joint City / County HIV Housing Committee, which serves as an advisory body to the County Housing and Community Development department.
Rental Assistance waitlist application(s) to new applicants is closed as of 2/20/2026. If you have already submitted an application(s), this closure does not affect you. You do not need to take any action.
