About us
The Vector Control Program (VCP) works to protect people who live in San Diego County from vectors and the diseases they can spread.
Vectors are insects or other animals that can spread disease to people. Some common vectors are mosquitoes, ticks and rats.
We use an integrated vector management strategy to protect the public from vectors. This allows us to protect public health while also protecting the environment.
The VCP is part of the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Our funding comes from two main sources: a service charge and a benefit assessment. Both appear on property tax statements each year.
