Renewable Energy

The County is dedicated to using renewable sources whenever possible,
especially when it comes to energy. The County has been utilizing
solar energy at its facilities since 2003 and has over 35 Photovoltaic
(PV) systems located throughout the County. The systems range from as
small as 2kW at the County's Waterfront Park concession stand to as
large as 1,000kW at the County's East Mesa Detention Facility.
The County currently generates almost 19,620,591 kWh each year, which provides clean and renewable energy for 22.56% of the County's annual energy usage. As new zero net energy buildings come on line each year, the net percentage of renewable production will continue to increase.
