The County is dedicated to using renewable sources whenever possible, especially when it comes to energy. The County has been utilizing solar energy at its facilities since 2003 and has over 22 Photovoltaic (PV) systems located throughout the County. The systems range from as small as 2kW at the County's Waterfront Park concession stand to as large as 1,000kW at the County's East Mesa Detention Facility.
The County currently generates almost 2,900,000 kilowatts each year, which provides clean and renewable energy for 2.6% of the County's annual energy usage. The County will be adding a total of 13 Megawatts at 8 sites by the end of 2019.
