Mission

To promote professional nursing practice by supporting quality nursing services to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities.

Our role is to support quality, timely, and evidence-based care and services provided by nurses throughout the Health and Human Services Agency. This includes development, implementing and updating policies and standards of practice.

The Office of Nursing Excellence collects and analyzes data to develop processes that support the delivery of excellent services and to monitor service delivery and quality indicators. We support our stakeholders in developing process improvement initiatives.

Dr. Denise Foster - Chief Nursing Officer

Dr. Foster brings many years of experience in the art and science of nursing, including 24 years of progressive leadership. She is experienced in leading in numerous nursing specialties and in a variety of settings. As Chief Nursing Officer for the County of San Diego, Dr. Foster develops the strategic plan for nursing and provides direction for enterprise-wide policies and planning for nursing practice in clinical and community-based settings. Dr. Foster holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the Oregon Health and Science University; a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix; and is a Board-certified Nurse Administrator.

PUBLIC HEALTH CENTERS

The Public Health Centers offer a variety of services to the community.

Open Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm. Clinic hours may be extended to meet community needs.
