Pathways to Renewable Energy
12/11/25
Under the Climate Action Plan (CAP), the County has launched an initiative to expand renewable energy, lower utility bills, and reduce environmental impacts. The San Diego Solar Equity Program – County Pilot offers monetary assistance to offset the installation cost of a solar panel system to income-qualified, single-family homeowners residing in disadvantaged communities within the unincorporated areas of San Diego County. For more information, please visit the program fact sheet. To learn how you can apply and participate in the program, visit https://sdsolarequity.org/.
Additionally, San Diego Community Power has recently re-launched their Solar Battery Savings Program which offers rebates to reduce the cost of installing a home battery system alongside an existing or new solar panel system. This program can be paired with the San Diego Solar Equity Program – County Pilot to help households create and store renewable energy.
If you are interested in adding solar and battery storage to your home, we encourage you to explore both programs to understand your potential savings. Please note that applications for the San Diego Solar Equity Program – County Pilot and the Solar Battery Savings Program are separate, and being selected for one program does not guarantee selection for the other.
