Overdose Data to Action (OD2A)
The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency is one of the recipients of the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) grant. The grant focuses on innovative surveillance activities aimed to reduce opioid misuse and opioid use disorder, increase evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorder, and reduce emergency department visits and deaths from opioid overdoses. This 5-year retrospective analysis describes recent trends in opioid-related fatal overdoses and nonfatal encounters at the emergency departments and hospitals in San Diego County. Differences in overdoses among demographic groups and across geographic areas within the county are assessed.
