Board of Supervisors Ad Hoc Subcommittees

Ad hoc subcommittees are short‑term groups made up of fewer than three Board of Supervisors members. They meet only when needed to work on a specific topic. Each subcommittee ends when its assigned work is finished or when its set timeframe expires.

These groups are not standing committees and are not required to follow the Brown Act. However, we follow transparency rules to make their work easy for you to access.

How Ad Hoc Subcommittee Meetings Work

Meeting Notices

We post each meeting agenda online at least 72 hours before the meeting. This serves as the official public notice.

Meeting Access

You can watch subcommittee meetings live online. Recordings are posted within one business day after each meeting.

Meeting Materials

We post the following materials for every meeting:

  • Presentations
  • Handouts
  • Supporting documents
  • Action minutes (posted within 30 days)
  • Public comments received during the meeting
  • Memos to or from the subcommittee
  • Consultant names, contact details, contract terms, costs, and materials produced

Who Supports the Subcommittees

A County staff team supports each subcommittee. They help prepare agendas, run meeting logistics, post materials, and create minutes. They also coordinate with Board offices and provide updates when meetings are not scheduled.

Each participating Board office also names a main point of contact.

When Subcommittees End

A subcommittee ends when it completes all assigned work or reaches its planned end date.
