Street Lighting District

The San Diego County Street Lighting District provides funding for the operation and maintenance of streetlights in designated unincorporated communities. Properties within the district contribute through an annual assessment that appears on the property tax bill.

Not all properties in the unincorporated county are part of the Street Lighting District. Properties are located in either Zone A or Zone B.

Understanding the Zones

Zone A

Properties in Zone A are part of the Street Lighting District and pay an annual street lighting assessment through their property tax bill.

Zone B

Properties in Zone B are outside the Street Lighting District and do not pay a street lighting assessment.

Board Policy

The Street Lighting District is administered in accordance with Board Policy J-20, which establishes the policies and procedures governing the district.
