Youth Resources: Youth Rights

In California, youth 12 years old and older may consent to their own STD testing (13 years old and older for HIV testing). Youth of any age may receive contraception (birth control) without parental consent. This means that you don't need parent/guardian permission to visit a clinic for these services.

These services are also  confidential, meaning that no one (parents, guardian, school, partner, etc.) may be notified that you visited a clinic, were tested or the results of those tests, unless you give written permission to do so.
