Health Conditions Known to Increase the Risk of Complications from the Flu

If you or someone you care for has a medical condition and gets the flu, there may be a greater risk for complications. The flu can make some medical conditions harder to manage. People with medical conditions may be more likely to get sick, have more severe symptoms, or stay sicker for longer if they get the flu.  People with certain medical conditions are also at a greater risk of being hospitalized, or even dying because of the flu.
