Senate Bill 6 (SB 6) and Assembly Bill 2011 (AB 2011) allow residential development on sites currently zoned for commercial uses.

These laws contain certain criteria that projects must meet to qualify. SB 6 and AB 2011 do not apply to every commercial area. Please use the Interactive SB 6 Web Map and the Interactive AB 2011 Web Map to see which parcels are eligible. Also, please see the application guides to view the full list of criteria.

Housing projects that qualify for SB 6 and AB 2011 will still need to meet all Objective Design Standards for the community.
