2026 Consolidated Fire Code

The State of California updates the California Fire Code every three years, which was completed on July 1, 2025. To reflect the changes of the State Fire Code and to make minor changes, the revised 2026 San Diego County Consolidated Fire Code is now being proposed.  Some chapters (Building Code Requirements and Defensible Space) of the Fire Code have now been reorganized into the new 2026 San Diego County Wildland Urban Interface Fire Code, and some minor revisions have been proposed. This item will be heard by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in late January 2026.

Changes are only related to properties within the San Diego County Fire Protection District; which includes areas such as Ramona, Julian, Jamul, Dulzura, Borrego Springs, Boulevard, Campo, Jacumba, Descanso, De Luz, Harbison Canyon, etc.
