Equipment

The San Diego County Fire Authority has purchased a variety of equipment for use by its contract fire agencies. Some equipment is very familiar, such as fire hoses or rescues tools. Certain equipment items are less visible, but are invaluable when used by trained firefighters responding to a variety of emergencies.

A partial summary of the Fire Authority's equipment is provided below:

  • Several sets of vehicle extrication and rescue equipment
  
  • 600 sets of firefighter personal protective equipment
  • 160 self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with 60-minute bottles
  • A swiftwater rescue 16-person team kit
  • 7 low-angle rope rescue team kits
  • Multiple light & air support units
