It's time to get rid of your unwanted fire fuel!!
A FREE community chipping and recycling event will be held in Campo on June 20, 2026, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.  First come, first serve (or until capacity is reached). No dumping before or after the event, please. Hosted by the local Fire Safe Council, San Diego Regional Fire Foundation, and the San Diego River Conservancy.
Residents can take cleared vegetation left over from creating their defensible space to be chipped for free to the Lake Morena Fire Station 42 (29690 Oak Dr, Campo, CA 91906). Residents are also welcome to bring metal, electronic waste, and paper/cardboard.
You must be able to unload what you bring to be chipped or recycled. Bring helpers! 
Material including, but not limited to, palm, succulents, and poison oak will not be chipped.
Brush must be free of mud, rocks, and other debris.
Maximum 6-inch diameter on cut limbs, 6-feet long.

Unincorporated residents are invited to properly dispose of those hard to get rid of items on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Unincorporated San Diego Residential Cleanup Event in Spring Valley - Faith Chapel (9400 Campo Road, Spring Valley, CA 91977) from 8am – 12pm or until capacity is reached. The event will also include free mulch for self-serve takeaway, paper shredding, and accept reusable items for donation.

**Please note, lines are longest in the first hour.**

ACCEPTED:

  • Bulky items
  • Electronic waste
  • Broken appliances
  • Water heaters
  • Recyclable materials
  • Green waste
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Scrap metal
  • Tires (up to 9 passenger tires per vehicle). Please call 1-877-713-2784 to request preapproval for loads of more than 9 tires. No tires with rims will be accepted. No tires from businesses.

NOT ACCEPTED:

  • Construction materials
  • Household Hazardous Waste: This includes, but is not limited to, batteries, paint, lightbulbs, car oil/antifreeze and household cleaners.
  • Waste from businesses
  • Waste from other jurisdictions - This event is open to Unincorporated County of San Diego residents only.
