Edgemoor is a licensed, distinct part skilled nursing facility for adults ages 18+ who need a higher level of care and increased number of staff compared to other nursing homes due to their complex needs. Almost all Edgemoor residents require long-term care due to their physical, cognitive, or behavioral condition. The facility can accommodate up to 192 residents and predominantly serves those who are covered by their Medi-Cal insurance.
A dedicated team of board-certified physicians, nurses,
psychologists, social workers, and recreational therapists provide
excellent care in a warm, welcoming environment without any use of
physical restraints. Edgemoor is a five-star facility, having received this highest
rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for quality
services, and is consistently named as one of the top nursing homes in
the nation for over a decade.

What is the facility like?
Edgemoor is located in East San Diego County within a residential neighborhood in Santee, California. It is close to the San Diego River and community parks.
Edgemoor opened in 2009 as a modern two-story facility accommodating 192 residents. It is a restraint-free facility, meaning that residents are not placed in physical restraints that inhibit their freedom of movement. Residents are accommodated in 32-bed “neighborhoods” within the facility, each of which acts as a separate community.
Within each neighborhood is a greatroom where residents gather to participate in activities, share meals and socialize. The nursing station is open and accessible. Windows throughout the facility let in natural light and overlook landscaped courtyards. Edgemoor has an outdoor exercise circuit for residents in wheelchairs, a therapy gym, and resident gardens.

Do residents have private rooms?
Most resident rooms are considered semi-private because they share a restroom with other residents in their pod, however, the resident’s actual room is in a “private” space from other residents. Each room has an individual flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and furniture designed for use by those with disabilities.
