Substance Use Outpatient Services

Outpatient treatment is the lowest intensity level of care. It may be the right service for you if you are not in immediate crisis but need ongoing and structured support for a substance use disorder. 

Getting treatment at an outpatient program typically involves scheduled appointments with licensed professionals. These sessions take place at community clinics across the county. The goal is to provide treatment and support to someone without the need for residential care or hospitalization.

There are programs available for adults, youth, and people who need specialized care who have Medi-Cal or are Medi-Cal eligible, including those with low income.

    Some Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs offer substance use treatment if you are already receiving ACT services (may need a direct referral).

  • Perinatal Services

    Perinatal services are available to women and teen girls ages 15 and over who are pregnant or parenting and to women seeking gender-specific substance use services.

Teen Recovery Centers (TRCs) provide outpatient services, intensive outpatient services, and early intervention to youth ages 12-17 with a substance use condition, including co-occurring mental health needs.

  • Narcotic Treatment Programs

    Narcotic Treatment Programs (NTPs), formerly known as Opioid Treatment Programs or OTPs, provide Medication for Addiction Treatment for people with Opioid Use Disorder and other substance conditions that may require medications for addiction. 

    All programs listed serve youth, adults, and pregnant clients, unless otherwise noted. Pregnant clients and intravenous drug users have priority admission to recovery and treatment programs.

    NTPs noted with * provide recovery residence placements for eligible clients experiencing homelessness or an extreme housing need.
